About this activity

Is chocolate a food or a technology? Why does it hold such a special place in cultures around the world? Most importantly: How do YOU like your chocolate? On this tour you'll need all your senses to help answer these questions, and there's no better place to explore the world of chocolate than the city famous for beans that give you a buzz. This 2.5 hour walking tour will fill you to the brim with chocolatey goodness. Dark. Milk. Drinking. Solid. Spicy. Bitter. Sweet. With nuts. With fruits. And the purest of the pure. You will leave with a deeper understanding of the attention that goes into each decadent bite you take. Included in your ticket price is 12 individual tastes of chocolate (keep breakfast light). We will visit 8 of Downtown Seattle's most beloved food stops so that there is a little something for everyone! We work hard to make this tour accessible to everyone, so let us know ahead of time about any food allergies, dietary restrictions, or mobility concerns.

Above and Beyond with Jade!

My spouse and I took a chocolate tour this morning with Jade and it was Phenomenal! The history and insight added onto the food that holds on its own.

Great tour for everyone who likes chocolate!

I gifted this experience to my family of four (me, husband, 13yo son, & 10yo daughter) for Christmas this year. Our tour date was in January, so it was a fairly cold, but clear & sunny day. Our tour guide, Will, was energetic and entertaining, with a surprising amount of knowledge about the history and politics (yes, politics) of chocolate as well as how chocolate is made and details specific to local chocolate makers. He did a great job of not just lecturing, but drawing us all into the conversation despite the age differences of our family. The chocolate itself was a lot of fun with great variety. We tasted white, milk & dark chocolate. We tasted chocolate in cookie form, truffles, bars, drinking chocolate, and as decoration/detail on other sweet treats. We had a couple of unique and adventurous chocolate items that I won't mention specifically so as not to ruin the surprise, but we also had a few general crowd-pleasers that almost everyone loves. There were also a few savory treats thrown in at a few spots just when you start to get worried about chocolate overdosing. :-) All in all, this is a great tour for those of all ages. While the tour sounds longish, all the walking is done within a few Seattle city blocks. I believe most of it is wheelchair accessible, but not easily so as a few of the streets are very steep and the areas along the street within and around Pike Place Market are very packed with people. I would absolutely do this tour again if I was hosting visitors to Seattle who loved chocolate or if I was recommending it to friends who had a layover in Seattle during an Alaskan cruise.

If you are a fan of chocolate or want to know more about Seattle’s chocolate history, it worth a try.

Our flight got delayed during Christmas, so I booked this tour for my 9 yrs old son and me for our unexpected extended vacation. The tour is very kid friendly. We walked around Pike place market and visited several different stores and tasted many different kinds of chocolate. The tour guides are very knowledgeable about chocolate and the history of Seattle. My son and I both really enjoyed this tour.

Tasty and fun tour of Pike Place

Not only did we get to try a wide variety of chocolate treats, but we learned a lot about chocolate and our guide, Jade, was funny and knowledgeable.
